JFS Welcomes New Board Members for 2017-2018

Please join us in welcoming the following community members to the JFS Board of Directors for 2017-2018:

Bruce Cohen is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Community Services Group, a mental health and intellectual development & disability provider, and has 25 years experience in the healthcare industry.  Bruce has also worked for PMSCO Healthcare Consulting and Geneia LLC.

Jill Henig, a 4th generation Harrisburg Isaacman,  is a physical therapist for the Intermediate Unit.  Jill attended the Silver Academy, and her family belongs to both KI and Beth El.  Jill enjoys hiking, nature, outdoors and reading.

Yasminah Huberman is a New Jersey native who comes from a family of educators; her paternal grandfather was a Rabbi who educated Jews of Color, and both of her parents were teachers.  She has been a teacher in South Jersey, Philadelphia, Israel, and Canada.  Yasminah currently teaches at the Silver Academy.

Varsha Lift is a physician for pediatric disability assessment in the Bureau of Disability Determination for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She has served on the Boards of Kesher Zion Synagogue in Reading and at Chisuk Emuna and the Silver Academy here in Harrisburg. Varsha has keen interest in the aging process and how we, as adult children, can better manage the future care of our parents.

 

JFS-Board-Member-Kathi-SpiegelmanKathi Spiegelman has taught at the Londonderry School since 2004, both in a preschool classroom and a mixed classroom for first and second grade students.  In the beginning of her career, she taught preschool classes at the Harrisburg Jewish Community Center in the late 1970s before moving back to Philadelphia, where she taught preschool at Adath Israel Synagogue.  In addition to teaching, Kathi has been active as a volunteer in significant projects focusing on young children.  While living in Philadelphia, she worked with the group that established the Please Touch Museum.  Then upon moving to Harrisburg, she both helped mount the initial exhibit at the Museum of Science and Discovery, and organized a citywide festival, for the Capital Area Association for Young Children.

Cheryl Woren is a Registered Nurse, and has worked at Polyclinic Hospital, Comfort Care of Holy Spirit, Health America, and most recently, at the Silver Academy. Cheryl is a volunteer at her children’s schools and sport booster clubs, with Susquehanna Service Dogs, and on the parental Board of Directors for the Cumberland Valley Aquatic Club. In her free time she enjoys biking and working out.
