Meet the JFS Board: Interview with Robyn Chotiner

 Where did you grow up?

Elkins Park, PA (outside of Philadelphia). I came to Harrisburg after marrying my husband, who wanted to return to his hometown to live.

How long have you been involved with JFS?

I have always seen the value in JFS and supported this organization since I moved to Harrisburg. I became involved with JFS two years ago and have enjoyed my experience on the board.

If there a particular program or service that JFS provides that is particularly meaningful to you?

John Jantos introduced me to the Meals on Wheels program in Harrisburg and I have enjoyed helping to provide meals to those who benefit from the program. I find great value in helping to serve our community and am thankful for this opportunity.

If you could impact one thing in the Greater Harrisburg community, what would it be?

I see so many ways to impact our community positively, I can’t think of just one! I appreciate the support that JFS provides in supporting families in the adoption process. I love how they offer mental health support, especially during these difficult times. Personally, I enjoy advocating for children and supporting their learning. I would like to continue supporting children and families in our community.

What is your motto?

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. – Aesop

Be the change that you wish to see in the world. – Mahatma Gandhi

When are you happiest?

I enjoy spending time with my family and extended family. They bring me my greatest joy.
